A Simons-designed game engine that allows you to create an iPhone game for your iPhone is in beta, and it’s ready for a wider release, AppleInsider has learned.
The company said the new version of the engine, which has been in the works for a while, will be available to developers soon, though the beta will be limited to a handful of games.
Simons has been working with Apple on a new version that will allow developers to make games with a “simpler, faster, more intuitive, and more accessible interface.”
The new engine has been designed to be “less complicated,” which means it can be used to make iOS apps for devices such as the iPhone.
Sims says the new engine will also work with iOS 8, the iOS 8.1.3 update, and iOS 9, and “iPhone apps will work on the new operating system with ease.”
The company has released an SDK that developers can use to use the new game engine.
For example, developers can create a game that has an avatar that can be scanned in an App Store app, or a game with characters that can interact with the real world.
AppleInsider reached out to Simons for comment, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
Apple also announced the Simons Game Engine as part of its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus announcement earlier this week.
